Corrosion and Protection of Carbon Steel in Oil Field Formation Water

Carbon steel has been extensively used under different conditions in petroleum industries. Crude oil often contains water (Formation water) and significant concentrations of corrosives ions, which lead to extensive corrosion of carbon steel. The objectives of this work are (i) study the electrochemical and corrosion behavior of carbon steel in Formation water in the presence of some corrosive ions. (ii) study the corrosion inhibition of carbon steel in Formation water by surfactants. (iii) using plants extracts to control carbon steel corrosion in Formation water.
